To record and translate the ordinary into something extraordinary describes Audrey Carroll Prucnal's passion of painting.
Having no formal art training, Audrey has over the years been fortunate to study with many accomplished well known artists. Beginning with a John Nagey drawing kit when she was small, to becoming a trained oil painting artist, it has been a lifetime journey to create beauty in whatever medium. For many years, Audrey was an enthusiastic and active decorative painter – (painting on wood, furniture, glass, tin, and porcelain in a variety of mediums) Painting portraits in oil was her subject of choice. Audrey has since ventured into the world of watercolor with a new interest in mixed media. Becoming a fairly avid fly fisherman, her attention recently has turned to nature, landscapes, and wildlife. She still paints portraits in watercolor and has found fisherman to be incredibly fun to paint as they portray so many aspects of life. Her favorite artist is Norman Rockwell for his interpretation of people and everyday life of his era.
As a recent award winning and published artist, Audrey is honored to be a member of many art associations, including the Connecticut Watercolor Society, American Watercolor Society, National Society of Tole and Decorative Painters, Glastonbury Art Guild and The Marlborough Arts Center. She is also a member of the Atlantic Salmon Federation; many of her paintings are used for fundraisers for the conservation of the Atlantic Salmon. Much of her work is done through request and commission. She can be contacted at axcarr@aol.com. Audrey's work recently won first prize at the East Hampton Art Show. One of her paintings was featured in a prominent national magazine in the autumn of 2010.
